Center for Law, Energy and the Environment (CLEE) Fund

As the premier public research institution in a state that is an international leader on climate and environmental policy, UC Berkeley plays a key role in nurturing the next generation of climate leadership. CLEE is an independently funded center at Berkeley Law that channels the school’s research output to policy and scale, leveraging faculty, staff, and student involvement in the process. Additional support allows CLEE to expand these efforts in partnership with other centers at Berkeley Law and across campus and with government agencies, businesses, communities, and other stakeholders.

CLEE is home to influential programs such as the Wheeler Water Institute, Project Climate, GrizzlyCorps, the California-China Climate Institute, and the Law of the Sea Institute, as well as initiatives addressing critical topics like land use, sustainable transportation, and environmental justice. CLEE also supports Berkeley Law’s leading environmental and energy law program, providing student research opportunities, support for student groups, administration of the energy and environmental law certificate programs, and support for the Ecology Law Quarterly journal.
