A gift to the Marco Troper Summer Scholars Program will support research opportunities for outstanding undergraduate math students. Students will join a summer research cohort and work in teams on projects developed and guided by a faculty member, with mentorship and assistance from graduate students and postdocs. The program will help build a community of students inspired by their interest in math research.
In 2024, Mathematics Undergraduate Marco Troper tragically passed away at the age of 19. Marco was an enthusiastic, inquisitive student, whose love for mathematics and kindness towards others was apparent to all who knew him.
To honor Marco's legacy this Big Give, his family created the Marco Troper Undergraduate Summer Scholars in Mathematics, to ensure that the brightest Berkeley math students have the opportunity to pursue their love for the subject that Marco shared.
