Your gift makes a difference
Your unrestricted gift supports the UC Berkeley Chancellor’s Fund, a donor-funded investment entity that is fully owned, managed locally, and operated at cost on the Berkeley campus. The Fund gives Berkeley new flexibility to support and scale its entrepreneurial ecosystem by investing directly in UC-affiliated startups — allowing the campus to thoughtfully participate in startup ownership and co-invest alongside founders, with all returns accruing directly to the Berkeley campus to fuel innovation for years to come.
The Berkeley Chancellor’s Venture Capital Gift Fund is managed by the UC Berkeley Foundation solely for the benefit of UC Berkeley. Funds are transferred by the UC Regents on behalf of Berkeley to Chancellor’s Fund — a for-profit LLC owned by the Regents — to be invested exclusively in UC-affiliated startups or venture funds. Donors retain no rights to investment returns or selection oversight. All eventual profits are returned to UC Berkeley to be used at the Chancellor’s discretion.
