Your gift makes a difference
This fund honors UCMP Curator and Professor Emeritus Bill Clemens. His groundbreaking research and generosity had an enormous impact on generations of students. Bill’s career spanned 60 years at Berkeley, including serving as the director of the UCMP (1987–1989). He was a tremendous scholar, mentor, and friend. Bill passed in November 2020.
Bill’s work in the Hell Creek Formation, Montana, revealed more to the story of end-Cretaceous mass extinction than typically attributed to the asteroid impact, changing the way we viewed the biotic transition from dinosaurs to mammals.
Annual income from this endowed fund will help UCMP maintain its fossil vertebrate collections, utilized by students and visiting scholars in their quest to advance the understanding of the history of life.
