Your gift makes a difference

Sarah Samuels was a leader and visionary in public health, focusing on research and evaluation of nutrition and public health programs to inform policy. She founded Samuels and Associates in 1994, which continued as the Sarah Samuels Center for Public Health Research and Evaluation from her death in 2012 until 2018. Graduating with a DrPH in 1982, Sarah was an adjunct faculty member of the School of Public Health and also an active member of the Public Health Alumni Association. She was named Alumna of the Year in 2012. Her contributions have been recognized by the establishment of formal awards by the American Public Health Association, California Food Policy Advocates/Nourish California, and the Prevention Institute.

Your gift provides essential support to students demonstrating high academic achievement and commitment to public health nutrition. Your donation helps train future generations of public health nutrition leaders and financially supports our graduate students to continue Dr. Samuels’ legacy of conducting rigorous program evaluation and innovative research on public health nutrition issues and apply their research to shape nutrition policies.
