Members of our department are driven by a fundamental curiosity about the past, present, and future states of the earth and planets. They cross disciplinary lines to uncover truths about atmospheres, oceans, the biosphere, and the interactions among them all. Our students are passionate, forming groups like the Geological Association at Berkeley and the Ocean Society, and attending field trips, where they gain invaluable experience researching the natural world.
