The Matsui Washington, D.C. Scholars Fund

Your gift makes a difference

The Matsui Washington, D.C. Scholars program is a new, holistic, and immersive experience built to inspire students who represent the diversity of American society to pursue careers in public service, especially in the federal government. Elements include:

  • Ten-week summer public service internships based in Washington, D.C.
  • Summer research opportunity
  • A 16-week, three-unit preparatory course in the Travers Department of Political Science
  • Hands-on training in research methods, implementation, and translating findings for a general audience
  • Mentorship
  • Professional development workshops and networking opportunities
  • Cohort-building activities
  • Fellowships covering the cost of summer housing, transportation, and living expenses
