Philip Brett LGBT Fund

The Philip Brett LGBT Fund was established in 2009 to honor the memory of Professor Philip Brett (1937-2002), who taught at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1966 to 1990; he also taught at UC Riverside from 1991 to 2001, and UCLA from 2001 to 2002. Philip Brett was an eminent scholar of Renaissance music who also founded the modern academic discipline of LGBT studies in music. He was particularly interested in cross-disciplinary approaches to LGBT research in all areas. The fund supports the research of graduate students at the University of California, Berkeley, who are working in any area relating to Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender studies.
