Center for Southeast Asia Studies - Vietnam Studies Fund
Support Vietnamese Studies at UC Berkeley!
Vietnamese Studies has been growing rapidly at UC Berkeley since the 1990s, with sizeable enrollments seen in the graduate and undergraduate courses on Vietnamese language, literature, society and history offered on campus. The UC Education Abroad Program (EAP) in Vietnam also continues to maintain strong student commitment from undergraduates throughout the University of California system. Specific attention to Vietnam at UC Berkeley is maintained through the efforts of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), which serves as the administrative center for the Journal of Vietnamese Studies, an academic journal devoted to publishing new academic research about Vietnam.
Support CSEAS as it promotes new initiatives designed to promote academic research and student support in the field of Vietnamese Studies. The main goal of this fund is to establish an endowment that will support the expansion for Vietnamese Studies at UC Berkeley. Specific needs include:
- To support the Journal of Vietnamese Studies, an academic journal devoted to publishing new research about Vietnam established by CSEAS in 2006;
- To expand support for programming of Vietnam-related events on campus, including lecture series, colloquia and film screenings;
- To provide research and travel funds for Berkeley students working in the field of Vietnamese Studies
