Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER Center)

The Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center, headquartered at UC Berkeley, is a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research center that develops, validates and disseminates performance-based seismic design technologies for buildings and infrastructure. PEER is a consortium of researchers from ten core institutions including UC campuses (at Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego), California Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, Stanford University, Oregon State University, and University of Washington. Research programs aim to identify and reduce risks to life safety and to the economy by including research in a variety of disciplines including earthquake-related geohazard and inundation assessment, geotechnical and structural engineering, transportation, lifelines, and economics, risk management, and public policy. For more information see PEER Center.
