BEACON Project Support Fund in the Dept. of Chemistry

photo student_lab_MG_2324 copy 2_zps3netwbh1.jpg The BEACON Project Support Fund benefits the "Berkeley Atmospheric CO2 Network Project," administered by Professor Ron Cohen in the Department of Chemistry. BEACON is a new approach to observing atmospheric gases over an urban area. Instead of using a small number of extremely sensitive instruments to measure a large area, we blanket interesting locations with a high density network of instruments. Each instrument measures carbon dioxide and other gases, and reports back to the BEACON website, where the collected data including temperature, pressure, and relative humidity is publicly available for viewing and download.
