The Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) is a central hub of data-intensive research, open source software, and data science training and outreach programs at UC Berkeley. Founded in 2013, our initiatives are designed to facilitate data-intensive research and bring together a broad range of constituents in the data science community, including domain experts from the life, social, and physical sciences and methodological experts from computer science, statistics, and applied mathematics. BIDS is a cohort of talented researchers who are leading the data science revolution within their disciplines, actively seeking new and creative ways to engage and foster collaboration across a wide variety of research fields and methodologies.
