R. B. Gump South Pacific Research Station
Global change science for a sustainable future
Located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean on the French Polynesian island of Moorea, the UC Berkeley Gump Station promotes research, education, and public service in global change science, tropical biocomplexity, and sustainable development. Moorea is internationally renowned as a model system for understanding how physical, biological, and cultural processes interact to shape tropical socio-ecosystems, particularly coral reefs. Such knowledge is vital to sustain the ecosystem services on which human populations depend, especially during periods of rapid global change.
